St. John’s Church, the Sunday School (Junior Church) holds a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual foundation of children, imparting essential biblical principles while supporting parents in their sacred responsibility (Deuteronomy 6:7, 11:9, Psalm 78:4-7, Proverbs 22:6, Isaiah 59:21).
An integral component of St. John’s Church, the Sunday School has been actively moulding young minds on these timeless principles since its initiation in 1953 by Rev. J. J. Pratt.
With an attendance ranging from nursery school to Standard 11, approximately 110 to 150 children actively participate in this enriching program, fostering a deep connection to their faith from an early age.
Activities:
Classes: Senior children engage in doctrinal discussions; younger children have lively assemblies.
Teachers Retreat: Annual theme-based discussion for teachers.
Bible Quizzes: Represent the church in inter-church quizzes, emphasizing in-depth Bible reading.
World Sunday School Day: Annual celebration with themes, skits, songs, and dances led by children.
Picnics: Sponsored by the church at locations like Karigiri, Kasam, or Amirthi for peer interaction.
