Outreach : Partnerships

Partnership with Trinity United Reformed Church, Lancaster, UK

  • A unique partnership was established in 1980 between St. John’s Church and Trinity United Reformed Church (TURC) in Lancaster, UK, initiated by Rev. Joseph Pratt.
  • This collaboration has involved ongoing exchanges of news and visits, including Rev. Robert Courtney, the Presbyter-in-charge of TURC, visiting Vellore in 1982 as a speaker for Lenten services at St. John’s Church and the Christian Medical College.
  • In return, Rev. A. C. Oommen, then chaplain of the Christian Medical College and a member of St. John’s Church, served at Trinity Church in Lancaster, marking the beginning of a continuing relationship between the two churches.
